We’re hoping that this year’s event will push us over the top for our fundraising goal of $40,000. Some funds are used to provide nightly emergency shelter and nourishment for homeless individuals, winter from end of November through end of March for 10-20 individuals each night. In addition, we offer women who are homeless a night or two in a motel when the need arises. We are also looking to hire a part time street outreach worker. As the Taskforce is committed towards ending homelessness in the Plymouth area, funds are used to support permanent housing for very low-income women and men. In collaboration with the Father Bill’s and MainSpring organization, over 70 individuals now have permanent housing in the area, including 13 units in 3 properties (two houses for men and one for women) owned by the Taskforce here in Plymouth. The Taskforce is currently in search of land to develop a major project containing 15-20 affordable studio style apartments. We remain an all-volunteer organization!!
This year the Taskforce will again be supporting Comunità Cenacolo, a non-profit organization, dedicated since 1983 to helping young men and women recover from addiction, which is often accompanied by, or a contributor to, homelessness. A small percentage of the funds raised this year will support this organization, that relies as the Taskforce does on personal generosity only and no government funds.
Please help us make this year’s tournament our most successful event ever!! This is our primary fundraising event of the year and we need your help!!
